Ivaylo Mirchev Presents the Painting Exhibition "Paraclis" in Burgas

Artist Ivaylo Mirchev will present his new painting exhibition in the city of Burgas. The "Prolet" gallery announces that the event, entitled "Paraclis", will be opened on October 16th.

"Paraclis is a beautiful, though foreign word. Translated from Greek, it means consolation" - writes the artist himself in the description of the exhibition. This promises an exhibition that both captivates the eye and gives spiritual enjoyment. "My path as an artist has always been accompanied by doubts and internal contradictions, emotional and of a purely craft nature. Even if you will, the choice of subject, the resistance of the material, the stages of work, which very often change the initial idea beyond recognition. I thank Proletina for once again allowing me to realize my ideas in search of the path to my chapel in the spiritual spaces of the "Prolet" gallery", adds Mirchev.

We remind you that the artist's last exhibition, who turned 70 last year, in the same gallery in Burgas was in the summer of 2023. Then, the audience had the opportunity to enjoy a series of paintings representing churches, Roma neighborhoods and interiors with intimate scenes. In an interview for the agency then, Ivaylo Mirchev shared his reflections on creativity. "No artist can surpass their own capabilities. Naturally, vanity always wants to show itself more and more beautiful and better, but there are inevitabilities that cannot be overcome. There is a consistent process - a path that is followed. There are ideas and tasks that are performed - sometimes better, sometimes worse, and the end result is this".

Ivaylo Mirchev was born on August 11, 1954 in Sofia. His creative path begins from the Art High School, and in 1981 he graduated from the National Academy of Arts, majoring in "Painting", in the class of Acad. Svetlin Rusev. Until 2024 he is a professor in the "Painting" department at the National Academy of Arts. Since 1982 he has been a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists, and in the period 2004-2011 he held the position of chairman of the organization. His solo exhibitions have been presented in many cities in Bulgaria and abroad – Germany, Holland, Switzerland and Austria. His work has been awarded prestigious awards, including the Grand Prize from the National Youth Exhibition (1985), the "Southern Spring" award (1986), the National Painting Award "Vladimir Dimitrov – Maystora" (2014) and the National Painting Award "Zahari Zograf" (2024). Works by Ivaylo Mirchev are included in the collections of the National Art Gallery, art galleries in the country and private collections in Bulgaria and abroad.
