The 10th anniversary international exhibition "Bulgaria – Turkey: A Bridge Between Cultures" opens tomorrow, 28 October, at 5pm at the NHK Culture House in Burgas.

It features works by 87 children and young people from both countries. The Bulgarian artists come from the private Yulia Krasovska Art School in Burgas. The Turkish artists come from the Doryan Art studio in Izmir.

Architect Yulia Krasovska, who founded and runs the school, is the organiser. The school is part of the Architecture and Art foundation. She works with international gallery owner Cem Angelos Üstüner, founder of Pinelo Art Gallery in Istanbul, and Yasemin Doryan, owner and head of the Izmir studio.

The works explore friendship, good neighbourly relations, mutual respect and shared cultural values. Each artist presents them in a different way.

The organisers say this anniversary edition shows the lasting cultural cooperation between the two countries, and that art crosses borders. They call creative work a common language that people understand whatever their nationality. They say cultural dialogue starts with getting to know each other, and that peoples grow closer through art, friendship and shared inspiration.

Bulgarian and Turkish performers will take part in the opening. They are Yavora Dzhisova, a soloist with the Nikola Ginov folk dance ensemble from Burgas, the ensemble itself, and the Turkish folklore group of the Dimitar Polyanov 1957 chitalishte (community cultural centre) in the village of Snyagovo.

The Burgas regional branch of the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria, Ruen municipality, the NHK Culture House and the advertising agency DRUK back the exhibition. Burgas municipality also helps.

The organisers are also linked to another Bulgarian-Turkish project in Burgas. In October we reported that "Paper Works" at the Bogoridi gallery brings together 63 artists from Bulgaria and Turkey. Yulia Krasovska Art School and Pinelo Art Gallery are behind it, and Ruen municipality is a partner.

The works are on the second floor. Residents and visitors can see them from 28 to 30 October 2026.
