Burgas Media's editorial ethics policy

At Burgas Media, we hold ourselves to high ethical standards. We believe public trust is built on honesty, responsibility and openness. We work in line with Bulgarian law and the principles of ethical journalism.

Our commitments

  • Honesty and fairness: We report facts accurately, without exaggeration, and try to give a balanced picture of different points of view.
  • Openness: We clearly separate fact from opinion and do not publish misleading content.
  • Independence: Our journalists do not accept payments, gifts or favours from people, organisations or companies they write about.
  • Advertising kept apart from editorial content: All paid content is clearly marked as advertising, as Article 75 of the Radio and Television Act requires.
  • Personal data protection: We collect and store personal information only when needed and in line with our Privacy Policy and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
  • Respect for private life: We do not publish personal or sensitive information without the clear consent of the people involved, unless there is a strong public interest.
  • No conflict of interest: Every journalist or editor must declare a possible conflict of interest. If there is one, that person takes no part in producing the content in question.
  • Authorship and plagiarism: We respect the copyright of all texts, images and other material. We investigate every suspected case of plagiarism, and it leads to disciplinary action.

Complaints policy

The editor-in-chief looks into every report or complaint about content we have published within 48 hours. If needed, we carry out an internal check and take the right steps, including correcting or removing the content.

Complaints can be sent to: [email protected]

Professional associations

Burgas Media backs the code of ethics of the Council for Electronic Media (CEM) and follows the guidelines of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists (UBJ). We believe in self-regulation and shared responsibility for quality journalism.
