Burgas journalist and writer Diana Fartunova has presented her new book, "Studies in Pen and Brush", at the Autumn Literary Festival in Burgas. It covers the four seasons in poems and watercolours.

The paintings and poems are linked by theme, so the book has roughly as many of one as the other. Parush Parushev, the book's editor, presented it at the event.

Fartunova told Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) Burgas that the idea of combining painting and writing came to her by chance. She said Saturdays probably helped, because a day off leaves more time for creative work.

"It became a habit to start my Saturday with a painting and a poem, and sometimes one comes first, sometimes the other," she said.

Sometimes a painting leads her to a poem. "Or the idea comes to me at night, I often write at night, and in the morning it finds its way into a painting," she explained.

The idea of making a book came from the publisher, Fartunova said.

On 17 October, Ina Ivanova and Diana Savateva read poems to a full hall at the Sea Casino. The evening was part of the 30th Autumn Literary Festival, we reported on 18 October.

Her next poems and paintings will have a different theme and will form a series.
