Police in Sozopol have detained a 32-year-old local man after a 36-year-old resident was beaten, Burgas regional police said.

The attack happened on Tuesday at about 10pm on Kavatsi Street, near a grocery store. Police say the victim was kicked in the legs and punched in the face.

Sozopol police officers found the 32-year-old, who police say has a criminal record.

He can be held for up to 24 hours. Prosecutors have already opened fast-track proceedings in the case.
