Sozopol wastewater treatment plant inspected after report of a surfaced pipe

New inspection of the wastewater treatment plant in Sozopol

Experts from RIOSV-Burgas conducted an extraordinary inspection of the deep-water collector near Sozopol following a report of a pipe surfacing in the sea opposite "Zlatna Ribka" beach.

The facility discharges treated water from the treatment plant far into the sea and is a key element of the "Sozopol – Chernomorets – Ravadinovo" sewage system. The report was submitted to the eco-inspection's "green phone" and concerned the pipe surfacing in the direction of "Saint Ivan" island.

The results of the samples taken show that the treated wastewater fully complies with regulatory requirements.

Results of the physicochemical analysis

The inspection was carried out on August 14 and 15, with samples taken directly from the plant's outlet. Laboratory tests tracked the following indicators:

• Nitrogen and phosphorus;
• Undissolved substances;
• Detergents;
• Petroleum products.

The analyses confirm that all values are within the permissible limits.

Third inspection for the summer season

This is the third inspection of the facility since the beginning of the summer, following samples taken on June 24 and July 24. In all three consecutive inspections, RIOSV-Burgas found no deviations from environmental standards, which confirms the effectiveness of the treatment process.
