First monument to Friedrich Schiller in Bulgaria unveiled in Sveti Vlas

A Historical Event in Sveti Vlas: Paying Tribute to Friedrich Schiller

The first monument in Bulgaria to the prominent German poet, writer, and playwright Friedrich Schiller now graces the seashore in Sveti Vlas. The bas-relief was officially unveiled in the "Alley of Nations" at the Marina Dinevi yacht port.

"We wanted to pay tribute to Schiller and his ideas of brotherhood and understanding, which are embedded in the anthem of the European Union," shared Yordan Dinev, co-chairman of the "Bulgarian Memory – Dinevi Brothers" Foundation.

Symbolism and European Unity

The ceremony was attended by the German Ambassador to Bulgaria, Irene Maria Plank, who emphasized the relevance of Schiller's ideas even today. The monument is placed alongside the images of national heroes from all over the world, symbolizing a bridge between cultures.

Friedrich Schiller joins the pantheon of figures in the "Alley of Nations," which includes the names of Vasil Levski, Hristo Botev, Giuseppe Garibaldi, and Adam Mickiewicz. With this initiative, Sveti Vlas reaffirms its status as a center uniting European culture and history.
