A study in The Guardian shows that a diet rich in plant-based foods can save thousands of lives. It reduces emissions from the food system, which is key to combating climate change. Need for global action.

According to a key study that caused a sensation, published in the authoritative British newspaper The Guardian, a diet oriented towards the health of the planet and rich in plant-based foods could save 40,000 human lives every day worldwide. The results of the study send a clear message about the need for urgent changes in the way we eat, in the context of global efforts to combat climate change and protect the environment.

Our team, closely following the development of the situation, learned from The Guardian that this diet, which allows moderate consumption of meat, and the accompanying measures could halve the emissions associated with food that lead to global warming by 2050. This is an ambitious goal that highlights the urgency of the problem and the need for coordinated global action.

Today, worryingly, one third of all greenhouse gas emissions come from the global food system. Experts warn that overcoming the climate crisis is practically impossible without a radical change in the way the world eats. In addition, food production also turns out to be the main reason for the destruction of wildlife and forests, as well as the pollution of our waters, which further exacerbates the environmental situation.

Bloomberg notes that this is the second landmark report by the EAT-Lancet Commission. The main message remains unchanged: "less meat". The report emphasizes how urgent a change is in the dietary habits of the world's population.

It is worth noting that the authors of this report became the subject of libel campaigns and insults after they first recommended a global diet in 2019, including less meat. This shows how sensitive and polarizing the topic of changes in dietary habits can be, despite the categorical scientific evidence of their necessity.
