Students in Obzor and Nessebar took part in eco events marking Car-Free Day in September and October, Nessebar council said.

Staff from the council's ecology department met fourth-graders at Saints Cyril and Methodius primary school in Obzor and 11th-graders at Lyuben Karavelov secondary school in Nessebar. They discussed protecting the environment, responsible travel and road safety.

The students also talked about greener ways to get around that pollute the air less. They spent most of the time on crossing the road safely, how pedestrians should behave and the mistakes that most often put people in danger on the road.

Officers from the traffic police section of Nessebar district police station also visited the 11th-graders. They urged the students to act responsibly and obey the rules of the road.

The programme included a quiz and question games on the topic. Those who answered correctly won a prize, and every participant went home with a personal eco certificate and gifts from the council.
