Burgas city council has voted to give €3,000 to the Nikulden Rally, a car race held for the city's holiday.
41 councillors voted for the decision. They also backed making it take effect immediately, because deadlines are short.
The item was added to the agenda at short notice. The report on it is by Ivan Stanev, head of the standing committee on sport, children and youth.
The Vromos Racing motor sport club started the rally. The money comes from the budget set aside for sport. It covers the main costs of running the event and keeping it safe: securing the track, timing, security from the Burgas regional police directorate (ODMVR), an ambulance with medical teams, fire safety, judges, barriers and eco toilets.
The report says the Bulgarian Automobile Sports Federation got its licence back after more than 4 years of effort. Clubs can now hold races again.
Vromos Racing also organises the Rally Pista Burgas and has more than 20 years of tradition in these races. About 5,000 spectators are expected at the track.
