Nearly 50 seventh-graders from the Aleksandar Georgiev-Kodzhakafaliyata primary school in Burgas visited the Museum of Military Glory in Yambol. The school came up with the trip, and Yambol municipality backed it.

Teachers from the school had been to the museum before and liked it, so they decided to take their pupils. They want the visit to add authentic evidence from the past to the history lessons coming up.

Museum director Zhivko Zhelyazkov welcomed the group. Curator Stoyan Todorov took them through the exhibits and explained the items and the historical events linked to them.

Many of the children had never seen such exhibits. The tanks made the biggest impression. During the talk they answered questions and described what they had seen.

The pupils say the visit was interesting and useful, and they recommend the museum to others.

Daniela Hristova, a senior teacher in history and civilisations and in geography and economics, says what the pupils learned at the museum will help with lessons on the Balkan Wars and the First and Second World Wars. She expects the lesson outside the classroom to spark the children's interest and make them want to learn more.
