A 65-year-old driver has died and three people were hurt in a crash between three cars in the Aytos Pass, on the road between Aytos and Ruen. The regional police directorate in Burgas said today, as cited by BTA.
Early police findings suggest the man probably felt unwell at the wheel. His car crossed into the oncoming lane and hit two cars coming the other way. All three vehicles then fell into a ravine beside the road.
Emergency teams found the driver dead. The other three people were taken to different hospitals for checks and treatment. Police have no information yet on their condition or how serious their injuries are.
An on-duty police team examined the scene. Traffic police directed vehicles until the examination ended and the cars were pulled out of the ravine. The pass is open to traffic.
Police are still working to establish the cause of the crash, and the details are early findings.
A forensic medical examination will show whether the driver died from a sudden health problem before the crash, or from the impact with the other two cars.
