Navy troops destroyed a Russian Gerber-2 drone on the spot after it was found today on the beach north of the lighthouse at Cape Shabla, the Bulgarian Navy said. The drone carried no explosives.

Russia has been waging a full-scale war on Ukraine since February 2022.

The Interior Ministry's duty officer raised the alarm at 10am. After a request and a positive decision from the chief of defence, the deputy navy commander ordered troops to scout the area and destroy the drone.

A disaster response unit from the Varna Naval Base went to the site. The troops examined the drone, which had no markings on its body, and destroyed it, following all safety rules.

The specialist team said the drone most likely fell into the sea and waves then washed it ashore.
