Police have opened an investigation into the death of a 10-year-old boy at Pirogov hospital in Sofia. His parents say doctors ignored him. The health ministry has also looked into the case.
The boy was hurt on 24 October in Etropole, when he fell from the ladder of a farm machine. He was taken to Sofia.
The pre-trial investigation is into causing death through ignorance or negligence in work or another activity that carries a high risk.
The parents say the boy was conscious when they got to Pirogov. They say the family waited more than 2 hours to be admitted.
The hospital says its team followed all emergency protocols and took every medical step to save the boy. It says his injuries were not survivable.
