Over the last 24 hours in Bulgaria, severe road accidents have been registered, claiming human lives. Statistics from the Ministry of Interior show a rising number of incidents and casualties. Urgent measures for road safety are needed.

Four people lost their lives and 40 were injured, 28 of whom seriously, as a result of traffic accidents in the country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior (MIA) announced. This grim statistic underscores the tragic price paid on the country's roads.

In the capital, Sofia, the picture is no rosier. Four serious and 49 minor traffic accidents were recorded in the city. In these incidents, four people were injured. The city's streets, usually bustling, turned into accident sites, leaving a mark on the capital's tranquility.

An analysis of the data for the current month also shows alarming trends. A total of 38 accidents have been reported since the beginning of the month. These incidents have resulted in the deaths of four people and the injury of 53 others. The rising number of incidents is an alarming signal that requires urgent measures to improve road safety.

The wider picture for the current year reveals an even darker reality. Since the beginning of the year, 5170 traffic accidents have been recorded. These incidents have claimed the lives of 330 people, and 6471 have been injured. These numbers underscore the need for comprehensive measures to combat the high frequency of road accidents and to protect human life.

Despite these alarming data, there is also a small consolation. The MIA announced that when compared with the real data for fatalities during the same period of 2024, there are eight fewer road users killed in 2025. However, this modest positive change should not blunt attention to the main problem: the high frequency of road accidents and the loss of human lives.
