Businesswoman Vanya Chervenkova says she and her family have received threats, and she has reported them to the authorities. She said so in a social media post, media outlets report. The threats came after her public claims in late October about the man charged with the murder of businessman Slavi Binev.
Chervenkova does not say who sent the threats. She says they were made online and then deleted. She is leaving the case to investigators.
Where it began: Eyup Temiz remains in custody indefinitely over the murder of Slavi Binev
"The authorities have already been alerted. From now on, any attempt at threats, public smears or misuse of my name will get a response under the law," Chervenkova wrote.
The businesswoman hopes such attacks will not happen again and says she will not back down under pressure. "My name, my reputation and my family are not a tool for gaining popularity, nor a way to satisfy anyone's personal ambitions," she wrote.
Slavi Binev was a friend of hers for many years. Chervenkova once ran a business with Eyup Temiz in Turkey, but she says she cut contact with him after she began to doubt his honesty. She says she spent hours trying to persuade Binev to break with the Temiz family, but he did not listen.
Chervenkova suggests that Niya Temiz, the wife of the accused man, may have turned her husband against Binev by claiming Binev was threatening her. Chervenkova herself denies that Binev could have acted that way.
