The Minister of Environment and Water, Manol Genov, and the mayor of Sozopol, Tihomir Yanakiev, opened a modern facility for pre-treatment of waste and composting. The facility is located in the lands of the village of Ravadinovo, near the regional landfill serving Sozopol, Primorsko and Tsarevo.

The investment in the project amounts to 12 million leva. The main goal is to ensure a long-term and sustainable solution for the management of household and biodegradable waste in the region. The site covers an area of 17 decares and includes specialized installations for the processing of mixed waste and composting of separately collected biowaste.

The technological process combines machine and manual separation, which allows for the effective separation of recyclable materials such as paper, plastic, ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

The new facility has an administrative and household part and storage areas, with the opening of jobs for 60 employees during the summer season and 30 people during the winter months. Through the implemented systems for automated opening of bags and stabilization of the biofraction, the volume of waste intended for landfilling will be minimized.

The project is of strategic importance for the ecology in the region and will guarantee the cleanliness of the settlements in the long term.
