The Bulgarian Majorette Sport Federation and the World Majorette Sport Federation jointly organised the cup.
Daria has been in the majorette team of the Troyan Municipal Youth Brass Band since she was 4 and has trained for 8 years. She also competes for the sports club BM Stars, which Maldzhieva founded and runs as president and coach.
Her road to Burgas ran through the national championship in Pazardzhik. There she won first place with the baton, second with the acrobatic baton and fourth with pompoms, which also earned her a place in international contests.
The European championship in Varazdin, Croatia, ranked her among the best in Europe and won her a place at the world championship. She also took part in the world championship in Katowice, Poland.
Her father, Todor Hristov, is president of the Bulgarian Powerboating Federation. He was the first Bulgarian at the Dakar Rally, and with Nikolay Gochev he holds a European title in off-road sports. He has been a main organiser of national off-road championships for more than 20 years.
Bulgaria hosted a jet ski world championship for the first time this year, in Burgas.
The BM Stars club for rhythmic gymnastics and majorette sport opened a group last year at Vasil Levski primary school in the village of Oreshak. The Troyan group began in 2026 in the hall of the town's century-old school.
Maldzhieva wants to develop elite sport in small communities and give every child a chance to show their talent.
