Ruse majorette team Extreme won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the Majorette Sport World Cup in Burgas on Saturday, 24 October. Two more of the team's routines finished fourth, Ruse council's press office said.
Nearly 500 competitors from 28 teams and nine countries took part at the Mladost sports hall. It was the first time the World Cup has been held in Bulgaria.
Plamena Koleva and Nelin Nadzhieva won gold in the senior baton duo category. Viktoria Raneva took bronze in junior solo baton.
In group events, the team came second in senior classic baton and third in senior pom-pom.
Captain Sofia Pulin finished fourth in senior solo baton. She also placed fourth with Viktoria Raneva in senior pom-pom duo.
Extreme is part of the International Youth Centre in Ruse. Its leaders are Veronika Milanova and Petya Boneva. The Ruse performers showed four solo and duo routines and two group routines in Burgas.
Besides Bulgaria, teams came from Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, Croatia and Switzerland. An international jury scored the routines. The heads of the national federations of the taking-part countries were in the hall.
The Bulgarian Majorette Sport Federation, led by president Yuliya Mumdzhieva and vice-president Reneta Kamberova, organised the event. The World Majorette Sport Federation, whose president is Zhelka Banovich, co-organised it. Burgas council gave support.
Extreme already has an official invitation to the upcoming World Championship in majorette sport and is preparing for the next big international tournaments.
Bulgaria will also host the European Championship in 2027.
