Police in Burgas detained four drivers who tested positive for drugs over the weekend of 31 October and 1 November. The tests showed cocaine, cannabis, amphetamine and methamphetamine.

Officers from the Fourth District Police Department stopped a 42-year-old Burgas man on a Honda motorcycle at about 1.20pm on 1 November. It happened on Minyorska Street in the Meden Rudnik neighbourhood. His test was positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

When police searched the rider, they found two wraps of white crystalline substance, identified as methamphetamine, known as "pico". Together they weighed about one gram. The man refused to give blood and urine for lab analysis. He was held for 24 hours and his motorcycle was seized.

The same day, at about 2.30am, officers from the Specialised Police Forces unit of the Burgas regional police directorate (ODMVR) stopped a 22-year-old Burgas man on Tsar Simeon I Street. He was driving a Ford Fiesta with Burgas plates. His test showed cocaine. The young man is being held until he appears before the media.

A day earlier, officers from the Second District Police Department carried out two checks. At about 11am on 31 October, they stopped a 41-year-old Burgas woman in an Opel Astra with Burgas plates on Kavala Street. Her test was positive for methamphetamine, and she is being held until she appears before the media.

At about 1.20pm the same day, Second District Police Department officers stopped a 20-year-old man from Primorsko on Odrin Street. He was driving a Peugeot Partner with Varna plates. His test showed cannabis, and he refused to give a blood sample for lab analysis. He was held for 24 hours.

Just days earlier, on 24 October, police stopped a 39-year-old Burgas man in an Audi A3 in Meden Rudnik. He had driven after taking amphetamine and methamphetamine. Officers found about 1 gram of white crystalline substance on him, and a field test showed methamphetamine.

Two of the four drivers refused to give samples for lab tests. Fast-track proceedings have been opened against all four.
