On September 23, at 5:00 PM, the city of Burgas will witness a significant event: the grand opening of a branch of the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts "Krastyu Sarov" in the NHC Cultural Center, on an open-air stage.

Expectations are high – the atmosphere will be filled with excitement and anticipation, and a multitude of enthusiastic students, teachers, and art lovers will gather in front of the building.

This event marks not only the beginning of the branch_s first academic year but also a historic moment for the Academy itself, as well as for the cultural and educational life of the region.

The Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony will introduce the team of professors who will take care of the first intake of students studying "Acting for Dramatic Theatre", under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Penko Gospodinov.

The official event will be followed by a ceremonial blessing, a symbol of well-being and success for the new undertaking. The evening will conclude with a concert by Volena Apostolova, a graduate of the Academy in Prof. Plamen Markov_s class, giving the attendees another dose of cultural richness.

Establishment of the Branch

The establishment of the branch in Burgas is the result of years of collaborative work and strategic partnership between the management of NATFA and the Burgas Municipality. Following the signing of a memorandum of cooperation at the beginning of the year, the Burgas Municipal Council approved the mayor_s proposal to provide suitable premises.

This is a significant step, demonstrating proactivity and commitment to the development of cultural life in the region.

The NATFA branch in Burgas was officially established by a decree of the Council of Ministers on July 2, 2025, following a positive evaluation of the project by the National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation and a decision of the Academic Council of the higher education institution.

This is the first expansion of NATFA_s activities outside Sofia, representing an important step in the decentralization of higher education in the arts and access to quality education in this sector.

The newly established branch will offer programs in the professional field "Theatre and Film Arts", including the specializations:
