The comedy "Dangerous Charm", starring Lyubomir Neykov and Silvia Petkova, will play in Burgas on 22 December at the Adriana Budevska Drama Theatre, the Vasil Drumev Drama and Puppet Theatre in Shumen said. The show is going on a national tour.
The Burgas date is one of the last of the year. The company first plays on its home stage in Shumen on 16 November, and the tour then goes to Haskovo, Smolyan, Dobrich, Sliven, Varna, Gabrovo and Blagoevgrad.
The theatre says the first shows sold out.
Nikolay Gunderov directs. The play draws on prose and humour by Svoboda Bachvarova. Stefan Milkov, Vasil Penov and Diana Spasova star alongside Neykov and Petkova, and the whole Shumen company takes part.
Nikolay Nikolov designed the sets and Alexandra Yotkovska the costumes. Tatyana Yaneva is the choreographer, and Denislav Anastasov wrote the music.
The theatre says the play does not copy the film of the same name but is its own stage version. It says the show links the spirit of the past with themes that still matter today.
The main character is a "seller of illusions" whose weapon is charm. He wins people over and makes them believe their own delusions. His greatest success is when the victim stays grateful to the man who cheated them.
The comic twists and clowning raise the question of why we choose to believe certain lies, and why the truth is sometimes harder to accept than a comfortable delusion.
On 28 October, the Adriana Budevska Drama Theatre in Burgas staged the premiere of "Tatul", based on the novel by Georgi Karaslavov. Bogdan Petkanin directed, and Antoaneta Krastnikova returned to the Burgas stage as Mariola.
In Sofia, the show will play in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in February 2027.
