Varna is taking an important step towards ensuring accessibility for all tourists. The first maps with attractions adapted for people with wheelchairs have been developed as part of the project “Varna for All”.

The project, funded by the Municipal Council, includes two routes: one covering the central part of the city, and the other - the Sea Garden. The maps, in Bulgarian and English, will be distributed through the Tourist Information Center and hotels with accessible rooms.

The routes are designed to take into account the possibilities for crossing the streets without the need for ramps or elevators. They are intended for independent use, with added information through QR codes for the attractions.

An assessment of tourist sites for accessibility and the preparation of a report for the local authorities are forthcoming. The initiative is aimed at improving infrastructure and implementing EU directives for an accessible urban environment, with the aim of attracting more tourists.

At the same time, the chairman of the SEB, Hristina Nedelcheva, also commented on the problem of unqualified tour guides, proposing the transfer of control from the Consumer Protection Commission to the municipalities.
