Vance (USA): Military aid to Ukraine does not lead to victory – a peace plan is needed

The idea that increasing military aid to Ukraine and tightening sanctions against Russia will allow Kyiv to win the conflict is illusory. This was stated by US Vice President J.D. Vance.

“There is an illusion that if we just give more money, more weapons, or impose more sanctions, victory will be achievable. Peace will not be achieved by failed diplomats or politicians living in a world of illusions. It can be achieved by smart people living in the real world.” He wrote this in X, referring to the new US plan for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.

According to Vance, “any criticism of this peace plan, on which the administration is working, is based either on misunderstanding it or on distorting important realities on the ground.”

The US Vice President emphasized that all proposals for resolving the conflict should be “acceptable to both Russia and Ukraine”. And also aimed at “minimizing the chances” of a resumption of hostilities.
