Fires in Bulgaria: Five Injured in 24 Hours

Five people were injured in fires across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Civil Protection" on its website. This statistic highlights the need for increased vigilance and caution, given the potential dangers that fires pose.

A dramatic scene unfolded in the city of Varna, where two people sustained serious burns after a fire at a Home for the Elderly. The distress call was received at 00:42, the fire department reports. When the teams arrived on the scene, they found that a room and the roof of a single-story house were on fire. Dramatically, on the terrace, two men were begging for help. Efforts to rescue them were immediately undertaken. Two residents with mobility issues, who had experienced the horror of the fire, were housed in the house. They had burns all over their bodies. After being removed, the injured were loaded into ambulances and transported to a burns clinic at the Military Hospital for emergency medical assistance.

In the same coastal city, another incident was recorded within the past day. In a fire in an apartment, a 43-year-old man was injured by smoke inhalation. The cause of this case, according to reports, was forgotten food in an oven.

Outside of Varna, in the town of Kaspichan, another incident led to an injured person - an 80-year-old man, overcome by smoke in a house fire. Simultaneously, in Panagyurishte, a 77-year-old woman was also injured, becoming a victim of a fire in her home.

Within the past 24 hours, fire crews across the country have battled a total of 59 fires. Direct material damage was reported in 20 of these incidents. The total number of incident reports to which the teams had to respond reached 85. Along with fighting the fire, the teams also conducted 23 rescue operations and support operations. Unfortunately, three calls turned out to be false alarms, taking up valuable time and resources.
