More than 700,000 students across 2,322 school buildings nationwide are starting the new school year with the first school bell. Today, over 55,000 children will cross the school threshold for the very first time as first-graders, according to the press center of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES).

In a message delivered through the press center of the State Agency for Child Protection (SACP), the agency's chairwoman, Dr. Teodora Ivanova, emphasized that it is the responsibility of adults to create an environment where every child feels safe and calm, and has the opportunity for full development.

Dr. Ivanova issued a special appeal to the students, encouraging them to be studious, to take bold steps on the path to knowledge, to ask questions, to believe in themselves, and to set high goals. She noted that while education opens all doors, achieving those goals requires hard work and determination.

The chairwoman of the SACP called on children to show kindness to one another and to reject aggression, insults, or humiliation. According to her, empathy and the ability to lend a helping hand to those who are weaker are the qualities that lead to true success. She also encouraged students to share anything that concerns or worries them with their teachers and loved ones, so they can receive the necessary support and protection.

Dr. Teodora Ivanova addressed parents with a call to truly listen to their children and to strive to build greater trust between them, adults, the school community, and institutions. "It is our responsibility what we show our children," she emphasized, calling on adults to serve as good role models.

To teachers and all professionals working with children, the chairwoman of the SACP wished high achievements, satisfaction, and many children's smiles, expressing her gratitude for their constant efforts and dedication to their professional work.

The new school year and calls for child safety are also relevant for families in Burgas and the entire region.

"Let us work together so that our children feel protected and happy every school day," Dr. Ivanova urged. She concluded with a "Good luck" wish to everyone for the new school year.
