Burgas mayor Dimitar Nikolov will honour 115 young teachers for a good start in the profession and thank them in person, Burgas council said. The ceremony is on Friday, 6 November, at 1pm in Central Park.
All of those honoured began work this year. They are at 10 kindergartens, 6 specialised high schools, 7 vocational high schools, 16 primary schools and 9 secondary schools.
The council organises the event, which is a tradition for the city's teaching community and is linked to National Revival Figures' Day on 1 November. The council says it wants to encourage new teachers who chose the profession "that underpins all the others".
The newly hired teachers work with mentors trained under the council's "Young Teachers" programme, who pass on their experience at the start of their careers. The council says the programme grew out of years of effort to keep young teachers in the city. It offers support, professional training and career development.
The ceremony also includes a show about the National Revival figures and education. Poet Yana Valcheva hosts both parts.
