In the context of marking the 80th anniversary of UNICEF and two decades since the organization established its presence in our country, the new representative Mio Nemoto emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership with the Bulgarian government. As a sign of appreciation for the state's support, Nemoto held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivanka Tasheva, during which the diplomat's credentials were presented.

During the talks, both parties acknowledged the excellent cooperation achieved so far, while also outlining directions for its further development. The key priorities in their joint work include:

  • early childhood development;
  • deinstitutionalization processes;
  • promoting inclusive education.

Special attention in the discussion was given to the modern challenges facing children and adolescents, including the protection of their mental health and safety from violence, including in the digital space. At the end of the meeting, Ivanka Tasheva expressed her gratitude to the UNICEF team in Bulgaria, highlighting their active role in collaborating with Bulgarian institutions and their consistent work toward upholding children's rights.
