Children from a kindergarten and two schools in Burgas painted together at an open-air art session called "Mexican Catrina" on 26 October, the organisers said. Their paintings will go on show at a charity exhibition and auction, "Help a Child in Need".
The largest group was six pupils from the Georgi Rakovski vocational school of electronics. Four pupils from the Petko Slaveykov primary school and four children from the Valshebstvo kindergarten also took part. The theme was the image of the Mexican Catrina. The children learned about Mexican culture and traditions, and each drew it in their own way.
The organisers say art brings people of different ages and cultures together. They say painting is a way to learn through experience, talking and sharing, and that it sparks curiosity about the world. They also see the event as a lesson that talent and compassion are linked.
The three institutions have a cooperation agreement and have run joint projects under it before. This time the event is for charity.
