Electricity and heating prices will not go up from 1 January, KEVR chairman Plamen Mladenovski said today at an open meeting.
The energy regulator will use all its tools to keep bills from rising, he added. Mladenovski said the price of heating does not depend on natural gas alone.
The meeting heard that Bulgargaz will change its proposal for the November gas price. The company now wants a 34% rise on October. The new proposal, which has not yet been filed, will include extra gas from the Chiren storage facility.
At the start of the heating season, Chiren is 83.46% full, against 76.97% on the same date in 2025. Storage sites in Europe are on average 74.93% full, against 82.83% a year earlier, according to data from the European gas infrastructure platform.
Romania said yesterday that its storage sites are almost 90% full.
Poland (99.23%), Portugal (95.51%) and Italy (90.77%) hold the most gas in storage. The emptiest sites are in Latvia (49.77%), Slovakia (54.47%) and Germany (61.65%).
