Actress and singer "Violina Dotseva" will take on the role of "Lili Ivanova" in the upcoming biographical film dedicated to the legend of Bulgarian popular music. The news was officially announced by the production team in Paris, where the prima of the Bulgarian stage gave a concert at the iconic "Olympia" hall.
During the presentation, director "Yana Titova" emphasized the team's ambition to remain as true as possible to the spirit and scale of Lili Ivanova. "Just as Lili Ivanova has no dreams, she has goals, so do we have one single goal – to present her story as inspiring, as personal, and as emotional as it is, with all the dignity she deserves. So we thank her for this honor," said Titova.
Violina Dotseva was selected after a four-month casting process in which many candidates participated. The team was looking for not just a physical resemblance, but an actress who could combine acting presence and vocal qualities to convincingly recreate the stage energy of Lili Ivanova.
Dotseva was born in 1993. She graduated from NATFIZ in the class of Prof. "Atanas Atanasov". Besides being an actress, she is also a vocal coach and singer, which makes her a particularly suitable choice for a role in which music and drama are inextricably linked. She is currently part of the troupe of the Drama Theatre in Gabrovo.
The biographical film is a joint production of the "Lili Ivanova" Foundation and the production company "Mezhdinnaya Stantsiya". The screenplay is entrusted to "Emil Bonev", the director is "Yana Titova", and the cinematographer of the project is "Martin Balkanski". This creative team aims to offer not just a classic biographical narrative, but also a modern cinematic take on a long and rich career.
The film will follow all the key periods of Lili Ivanova's life – from her early years and breakthrough on stage, through her great successes and challenges, to her contemporary career and her unchanging connection with the audience. The film is expected to explore both the personal and professional dimensions of her journey.
The working title of the project is "LILI – Love is Life". According to the team, this motto reflects the philosophy with which Lili Ivanova has lived and created for decades – dedication to the stage, to the song, and to the people who follow her.
