Cartoonists from Balkan countries are in Chernomorets and Sozopol from 1 to 10 November for the third Chernomorets Laughs arts festival.

The exhibition "What Do People Laugh at in the Balkans?" opened on Thursday, 5 November, at the Dimo Nikolov 1908 chitalishte (community cultural centre) in Chernomorets, and runs until the end of November. On Sunday, organisers said the cartoonists will draw in front of an audience on 5, 6 and 7 November.

The artists open their studios and show how a satirical drawing is made. In Sozopol, they visit the Otets Paisiy 1896 chitalishte, where they draw caricatures and show their techniques to locals and visitors.

During the festival, the cartoonists draw live, present their new work and talk about the place of satire in art today.

The festival is organised by Sozopol municipality, the Chernomorets mayoralty and the Imeon Balkani Foundation. The Ministry of Culture provides the funding.
