Scandinavian Cinema: From Silent Film to Today
Burgas Film Fest invites all lovers of the seventh art to an exciting meeting with film critic and researcher Mirela Vasileva. The event will take place on July 21 at 6:30 PM in the iconic "Petya Dubarova" hall of the "Sea Casino" Cultural Center.
"Scandinavian Cinema - Themes and Motifs" is an in-depth study, nominated for Book of the Year by the Union of Bulgarian Film Makers for 2025.
The book traces the development of cinematography in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway from the beginning of the 20th century to 2022. In her work, Vasileva analyzes:
- The historical and cultural context of the region.
- The formation of strong national cinemas.
- The creative environment that turned Scandinavia into a global phenomenon.
