An exciting evening awaits ballet lovers. On November 18, the hall of the State Opera - Burgas will be transformed into a stage for the classical masterpiece "Sleeping Beauty". The choreography is by Marius Petipa and Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov, and the music is by P. I. Tchaikovsky. The direction is by Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov.

The expectations are that the performers from the ballet troupe of the Burgas Opera, under the guidance of the rehearsal director Galina Kalcheva, will unleash their full potential and present a spectacle filled with brilliance and confidence.

On Tuesday evening, the audience will witness the stage embodiment of the magical fairy tale, told through the language of ballet art - a combination of music, grace, exquisite costumes and impressive sets.

Debut in the leading role

On stage we will see the debut of Ilina Konstantinova in the role of Aurora. Princess Aurora is enchanted by the evil fairy Carabosse and falls into a deep sleep, from which she is awakened by Prince Desire. Ilina Konstantinova is the winner of the Burgas Municipality Award for the best performing participant from Burgas in the International Ballet Competition "Sara-Nora Prima" 2025.

In the role of the Prince we will see the premier-ballet dancer of the Sofia Opera and Ballet and the Burgas Opera Emil Yordanov.

The performance will also include laureates of the International Ballet Competition "Sara-Nora Prima" 2025, awarded with prizes - a guest appearance in a performance of the State Opera Burgas.

Costumes and sets

The sets, in accordance with the scale of the performance, are the work of the set designer Ivan Tokadjiev, whose style is often compared to that of Salvador Dali. The costume designer is Tsvetanka Petkova-Stoynova, winner of the award of the Association of Choreographers for her work in "Sleeping Beauty". Over eighty costumes will come to life on stage. Handmade, with thousands of "Swarovski" crystals on the ladies" dresses, they promise visual delight. The assistant director of the production is Petar Tiholov.

Participating

Rumelina Dilcheva, laureate of the International Competition "Sara-Nora Prima" 2025, is expected to perform the role of the Lilac Fairy.

As Carabosse, the fairy who condemns Princess Aurora to sleep, we will see Raya Chakarova.

The couple Laya Ramon and Kiril Filipov, will present the dance of the "Blue Bird". Temperamental and bright will be Rafaela-Maria Kyul - as Little Red Riding Hood, and Francesco Russo - the Wolf. Julia Letsi and Kiril Filipov will perform the etude "Puss in Boots".

The other magical creatures will be presented by: Fairy Tenderness - Rafaela-Maria Kyul, Fairy Fertility - Gergana Kozarova, Fairy Generosity - Valeria Minkova, Fairy Carefreeness - Julia Letsi, Fairy Courage - Bianca Gospodinnova.

The male presence in the ballet, including stories from fairy tales, also promises color. The Cavaliers: Teodor Tsakov, Kiril Filipov, Haru Nakagawa, Stoyan Furtunov, will be at their best. Maria Gabarova - Queen, and Nayden Naydenov - King Florestan, will be in the role of the royal parents. Patrick Gil will play the comic role of the courtier Catalabutte.

The elegance of the stage will be complemented by the artists from the corps de ballet of the Burgas Opera. In the Suite of the Lilac Fairy will be presented: Andrea Sotirova, Kalina Nedelcheva, Bianca-Helen Dzhovaneli, Anelia Ivanova, Anna Paselo. Little maids of honor will be: Kalina Nedelcheva, Julia Letsi, Nanako Sato, Andrea Sotirova; Big maids of honor: Laya Ramon, Gergana Georgieva, Gergana Kozarova, Rafaela-Maria Kyul. In the role of Nereids we will see: Gergana Georgieva, Polina Pasha, Bianca-Helen Dzhovaneli, Anna Paselo, Gergana Kozarova, Kalina Nedelcheva, Julia Letsi, Andrea Sotirova. In the temperamental Mazurka will participate: Gergana Georgieva, Anelia Ivanova, Bianca-Helen Dzhovaneli, Gergana Kozarova, Haru Nakagawa, Stoyan Furtunov.
