Burgas will host an extremely rare cultural event on August 16, when a prestigious Indian dance ensemble will present the classical Odissi style. The concert will take place on the open-air "Ohlyuva" stage at 8:30 PM with free admission for all interested.

Behind the organization of this unique event are the Embassy of the Republic of India, the East-West Indological Foundation, and the Burgas Municipality, who are joining efforts to present authentic Indian dance art.

The lead figure of the ensemble is the charismatic Arupa Gayatri Panda - an extremely talented dancer who has been dedicated to traditional dance practices from an early age. At the age of 3, she began her training with master guru Pusparanjan Mangaraj, who recognized her potential.

Panda continued her professional development at the Dance Academy of Orissa, where she refined her skills with leading instructors. Currently, she is a full-time lecturer in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Sri Sri University in Odisha, passing on her knowledge to the next generation of dancers.

Her international career includes impressive performances on prestigious stages in the USA, Canada, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Besides being a dancer, Panda is also an actress, playing the main female role of Padmavati in the TV series "Sri Jagannath".

Odissi as a dance style has deep spiritual roots connected to temple traditions in the East Indian region of Odisha. It is characterized by exceptional grace, lyricism, and a focus on devotion. Dancers recreate ancient mythological stories through complex body movements, rich costumes, and specific ritual makeup.

The tour is being carried out with the support of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations - a government organization whose mission is to promote Indian culture worldwide through international cultural exchange.
