The colorful exhibition “Coppersmithing – Ancient and Eternal”, created by the ethnographers from the Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv, is about to open. It will be opened on November 26, 2025 (Thursday) at 4:30 PM in the temporary exhibition hall of the Ethnographic Exposition in the seaside city at 69 “Slavyanska” St.
As early as the 18th century, Bulgarian coppersmiths exported their works to the Orient. Bulgarian coppersmithing developed under the influence of Eastern production, but retained local forms and traditions.
The main characteristic of copper products is practical functionality and simplicity. Our masters prefer engraving, using symbols from embroidery.
The sinia (a type of copper tray) is one of the most richly engraved vessels, fostering aesthetics. Coppersmiths had a reserved place at the large fairs.
