"The Queen of the Czardas" Returns to the Burgas Opera Stage: A Dazzling Production and Captivating Emotions

Following a series of successful performances of one of the most popular operettas worldwide – “The Csárdás Princess”, on April 3rd at 7 PM in the Opera hall, a performance of the glamorous and exciting production directed by Prof. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev is scheduled again.

Friday evening will be under the sign of aristocratic splendor and artistic magnificence with the performance of “The Csárdás Princess” by Imre Kálmán, under the baton of conductor-director Ivan Kozhuharov.

“The Csárdás Princess” completely grabs the senses – with passionate music, a whirlwind plot, excellent direction, beautiful sets and costumes, and most of all – with the exciting love story, which always sounds current.

The performance is a real feast – a brilliant combination of music, stage design, costumes, choreography, masterful inspired performance and an impressive bond between all the elements. Both the soloists, and the artists from the choir, the ballet, and the musicians from the orchestra – under the whirlwind baton of Ivan Kozhuharov, will once again be able to create a unique atmosphere in the Opera hall – with style, passion, dedication and undisguised pleasure from their participation in the birth of another exciting event from the creative calendar of the Burgas Opera.

The charming mezzo-soprano Yoana Kadiyska and the tenor Penyo Pirozov /guest/, lead soloist of the National Music Theater “Stefan Makedonski”, will again be at their usual height in the presented roles – of the lovers Silva and Edwin. The famous duets of Silva and Edwin, which have also gained independent popularity, will again excite those present. With a brilliant sense of humor and effervescent artistry, tenor Yani Nikolov will perform – in the image of Boni, Silva's fiancé, a favorite of all the ballerinas from the variety show, but whose heart is only in the grip of Stasi, and the bass Diman Panchev – as the writer Feri Bachi, who changes the ending of his novel depending on the fateful twists in “real life”. Maria Yurkovska, mezzo-soprano, is again stunning, with a wonderful vocal performance and natural charm, in the role of the coquette Stasi.

Mezzo-soprano Irina Dobrovolskaya – with a full, beautiful voice and captivating stage presence – will perform as the former csárdás princess Czilika. Tenor Miroslav Dimitrov – evoking sincere laughter just by appearing on stage – will enter the image of the bartender Mishka, whose famous line: “A good waiter should know everything, and a good husband – nothing”, is cult. Tenor Milen Dinolov will be in the role of the Notary Kish, bass Petar Tiholov – in the comic role of the Prince, who, however, is fair and bestows happiness on the two pairs of lovers; and Emil Peychev – in the image of the General. 

The artists from the choir with conductor Alexander Chepanov will create the necessary full-scale sound of the general scenes, in which key moments in the plot development take place. The scenography of “The Csárdás Princess”, the work of the recognized master in the field of artistic decor Ivan Tokadjiev, is amazing – as a masterful combination of classical stage solutions with the possibilities of multimedia effects. The costumes of Yana Dvoretska are fully in sync with the overall vision of the stage brilliance – both in terms of color solutions, and in terms of style, and in terms of brilliantly crafted details. The choreography of Marina Zmeeva-Markova fully overlaps with the idea of a glamorous cabaret performance – according to all the canons of the operetta. Assistant director of the production is Lina Peeva, répétiteur – Iliana Todorova.

The performance is in the series of events with which the Burgas cultural institute is included in the long-term program related to the candidacy of Burgas for European Capital of Culture in 2032.
