Broadway Brilliance in Burgas: "My Fair Lady" - Final Performance

On August 13, 2025, the Summer Theater in Burgas will host an impressive production of the world-famous musical "My Fair Lady", which has already triumphed in numerous Bulgarian cities. The performance, based on the play "Pygmalion" by George Bernard Shaw, promises to transport viewers into the magical world of London society from the early 20th century.

Directed by Prof. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev, the musical presents an exciting story of the street flower seller Eliza Doolittle's transformation into a refined lady, under the guidance of phonetics professor Henry Higgins. The production reveals a deep social commentary, breaking stereotypes and prejudices through an exceptionally emotional and artistic interpretation.

The leading roles will be performed by exceptional Bulgarian opera performers. The charismatic soprano Ilina Mihaylova will recreate the role of Eliza Doolittle, while tenor Marcho Apostolov will play Professor Higgins. Additional charm to the performance will be added by the other soloists – Petar Tiholov as Pickering, Diman Panchev as Alfred Doolittle, and Yani Nikolov as Freddy Hill.

Musical direction is entrusted to the renowned conductor Ivan Kozhuharov, who guarantees an authentic Broadway sound. The scenography by Ivan Tokadzhiev, choreography by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anna Pampulova, and costumes by Yana Dvoretska complete the overall artistic impression of the performance.

The production features over 200 impressive costumes and promises to transport viewers to the atmosphere of London from the beginning of the last century. Choreographic compositions range from elegant ballroom dances to dynamic street scenes, which further enrich the audience experience.

This performance is part of a series of shows with paid copyright from Concord Theatricals, with the current performance in Burgas being one of the last. The tenth and final performance is planned for October 21 at the State Opera – Stara Zagora.

The musical is not just entertainment, but a message about love that overcomes social barriers and prejudices. Every element of the production – from musical performance to scenography – is designed to touch the viewers and transport them to a more harmonious world.
