The Boatin Reserve in the Central Balkan National Park is celebrating 77 years since its establishment in 1948. It is home to old, tall beech trees, some over 200 years old, as well as a rich biological diversity, including rare and endangered plant and animal species.

The Municipality of Pomorie has launched the second phase of the project "Holistic Approach to Waste Management in the Transition to a Circular Economy", co-financed by the EU LIFE program. Repair of a sewage collector causes temporary pollution of the Novachitsa River in Sofia
Experts from the RIEW-Sofia and the Danube River Basin Directorate found that the temporary diversion of a sewage collector of "Sofiyska Voda" AD for repair activities has caused temporary pollution of the Novachitsa River. The company has timely informed the competent authorities and taken measures to limit the pollution.
The European Commission has updated the "Environment" Programme for the period 2021-2027.
The European Commission approved an amendment to the Environment Programme 2021-2027 on June 4, 2025. The changes are a result of the mid-term review of the programme and will support the achievement of the environmental objectives financed by it. The amendments include expanding eligible investments in the water and sewerage sector, introducing new measures for municipal waste management, support for protected areas and national parks, as well as updating the target values of indicators for various priorities.
