Forecast for August 27: calm weather in Burgas and clouds over the country

On August 27, the weather in Bulgaria will be mostly sunny, but in the afternoon, cumulus clouds will develop in some places. In isolated areas, short-term precipitation and thunderstorms are possible. More favorable conditions for the beach are expected along the Black Sea coast, although the state of the sea and the lifeguards' instructions remain decisive for safe swimming.

Weather in Burgas and the region

In Burgas and along the Southern Black Sea coast, mostly sunny weather is expected with temporary increases in cloudiness. The probability of precipitation is low, though local short-term rain cannot be ruled out in certain parts of the region in the afternoon.

Minimum temperatures in the area will be around 19-21 degrees, and maximums will reach 27-29 degrees. The sea water near Burgas will be around 26 degrees.

The wind will be light to moderate, with an estimated speed of around 10-25 km/h. In the open sea, temporarily stronger gusts are possible. The preliminary assessment for swimming is a green flag, provided there is no local wind strengthening or change in swell at the specific beach. Visitors should follow the lifeguards' signals.

Sofia and the Sofia region

In Sofia and the region, the day will start mostly sunny. In the afternoon, cloudiness will increase, and short-term precipitation and thunderstorms are possible in some places. The probability of rain is higher in the mountainous and western parts of the region.

No swimming flag is assigned for the inland regions of the country. However, in areas around dams, rivers, and non-guarded bodies of water, increased caution should be exercised.

Weather in the mountains

In the mountains, sunny weather will prevail before noon. In the afternoon hours, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop, and it will rain and thunder in isolated areas.

Temperatures at an altitude of about 1200 meters will reach approximately 20-23 degrees, and at 2000 meters they will be around 13-16 degrees. The wind will be light to moderate, and in high and exposed parts, it may be strong at times. Mountain hikers should start their treks early and avoid exposed ridges during thunderstorm activity.

Along the Black Sea coast

Mostly sunny weather will prevail along the coast. Cloudiness will be variable, with a lower probability of precipitation compared to the interior of the country. Maximum temperatures will be approximately between 27 and 30 degrees.

The sea water temperature will remain around 25-26 degrees. The wind will be light to moderate, mainly from the east-northeast, with a speed of up to about 25 km/h. Light to moderate swell is expected.

The preliminary assessment for beach conditions is a green flag at most guarded beaches. In the event of increasing wind, the appearance of riptides, or a warning flag being placed by lifeguards, entering the water should be limited.
