Today is St. Nicholas Day! We commemorate the memory of Saint Nicholas the Miracle Worker.

His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel served a festive liturgy in the church "St. Nicholas of Myra - the Miracle Worker" in Sofia.

He called on Bulgarians to gather in Orthodox churches and pray to the saint.

"Saint Nicholas is a great saint, so many miracles even in our time, the year 2008, an incredible miracle that saves a sailor from the ship 'Vanessa', who spends hours in the icy water alone in this abyss and St. Nicholas saves him. So many miracles have been attested in an indisputable way, as we know how he received this gift through faith in God and a life according to the commandments of Christ - to strengthen ourselves with this faith, a saving faith, which really performs miracles, therefore let us gather today in the Orthodox churches, let us pray to the saint, let us glorify him, let us rejoice that there is such a great intercessor before the throne of God for all of us and let us imitate his life and faith," said Patriarch Daniel.
