Today the church honors Saint John the Baptist, who baptized Jesus Christ.

In Sozopol, the relics of the saint, discovered during excavations on St. Ivan Island, are preserved in the church. This attracts many people to today's holiday.

The Metropolitan of Sliven, Arseniy, has already joined the festive liturgy in the temple.

The relics were discovered in 2010 by Bulgarian archaeologists and contain a tooth, bones from a hand and a facial part. Analyses by the University of Oxford show that they are among the closest to the person of John the Baptist.

In winter, the relics are in the church "St. George the Victorious", and in summer in "Sts. Cyril and Methodius".

The festive liturgy continues in the temple, where many people have come.
