A third container, whose origin is unknown, has been spotted in the sea off Sinemorets. The Navy said after an inspection today that the container, stuck on rocks near Tsarevo, cannot be pulled out for now because of rough seas and shallow water.

A container ship sank on Wednesday, 28 October, after sea drones struck it off Shabla, and some of its cargo fell into the water. The first two containers are believed to have come from the ship.

Flotilla Admiral Radko Penev, commander of the Combat and Support Ships Flotilla, said conditions are extremely bad. The water near the shore is so shallow that even a navy tug would be at risk, so the operation cannot be done safely. The military is still discussing how to move the container to a safe port.

Its papers say the container at Tsarevo holds Christmas decorations, but what is actually inside has not yet been established.

Late last night, the sea washed a tank container onto Silistar beach. Burgas regional governor Diko Dikov said it is empty and poses no danger to people. Border Police are guarding it round the clock.

Updated (03.11, 12:48): The container ship sank on 29 October, not 28 October as first reported, Burgas regional governor Diko Dikov said. The ship, named CONTSHIP JET, was hit by three sea drones. Dikov told Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) that the regional environment inspectorate (RIOSV) will take water samples around the tanker.
