The caretaker government is allocating 65 million euros for the early parliamentary elections, announced caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov at the beginning of the first regular meeting.

We face a task that is both simple and difficult. Simple, because we all know what we need to do, and difficult, because we know it will not be met with applause, Gyurov said. He announced that today the cabinet must provide the funds for holding the elections. Many people will say again unnecessary expenses, and I understand them. They come from people who work, pay their taxes and expect every euro to be spent wisely, Gyurov pointed out and added that this is the voice of responsible society. 

The truth is that elections are not an expense. They are an investment in the legitimacy of power, in the trust between citizens and institutions, in the right of every Bulgarian, no matter where they are, to be heard, said the caretaker Prime Minister. According to him, these 65 million euros are not for the government and the parties, but for the election process, for the remuneration of the members of the election commissions. They are for the people, from whom we will require to account for every vote, for the explanatory campaign of the Central Election Commission, for the training of the commissions. Because the vote cannot be entrusted to people who are not literate and who cannot distinguish a valid from an invalid ballot, Gyurov said.
