Heavy Rainfall and Flood Risk in Bulgaria

Today, prolonged and significant rainfall is expected, reports the Bulgarian National Television. Forecasters warn of potential problems, with the most serious situation in the eastern and northern regions of the country.

In some places, especially in Eastern Bulgaria, a red code has been declared _q_ the highest degree of danger of flooding. This means that the authorities are calling for increased vigilance and readiness for potential disasters. It is expected that over 65 liters of rain per square meter will fall in these areas during the day. This amount is significant and can cause serious consequences, including flooding of low-lying areas and difficulties in infrastructure.

At the same time, the situation in the southwestern and south-central parts of the country will be calmer. There, the rainfall is expected to weaken, offering a breath of relief for the residents.

Temperatures will remain relatively low for the season. Minimum values during the day will mainly vary between 6 and 11 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperatures will be between 10 and 15 degrees, with thermometers in Sofia showing around 10 degrees.

The weather will also be windy. A moderate, locally temporarily strong wind from the west-northwest is expected. In the northeastern regions, the wind will blow from the north-northeast.

The situation on the Black Sea coast requires special attention. Today, cloudy weather is expected there, accompanied by prolonged and significant rainfall. The wind will be moderate and strong, from the northwest. In the northern regions of the Black Sea coast, the wind will blow from the northeast. Maximum temperatures along the coast will be between 14 and 19 degrees. Sea waves are predicted around 3 points, which requires increased attention from seafarers and sea lovers.

Significant cloud cover is also expected in the mountains. In the massifs in Southwestern Bulgaria, rain with temporary interruptions is expected. Above 1800 meters above sea level, snow will fall, which will complicate movement and create conditions for avalanches.

More serious and prolonged rainfall is expected in the Stara Planina and in Strandzha. A strong wind from the north-northwest is expected there, and in the highest parts - from the north-northeast, which will further worsen the conditions and create additional challenges for the mountaineers and residents of these areas.
