Galya Petkova, one of the bright and iconic figures of cultural life in Burgas, has left us. The sad news was announced by her loved ones.

Galya Petkova was the manager of "Art Melpomena" – an organization that has been presenting theatrical productions and concerts in the city for the last 25 years. She was the driving force behind the anniversary celebrations of artists such as Georgi Kaloyanchev, Stoyanka Mutafova, Tatiana Lolova, and Nikola Anastasov. One of the last concerts she organized was for Kichka Bodurova, held in July at the Summer Theater.

"Galya Petkova was the heart and soul of 'Art Melpomena.' She did not just organize theatrical performances and concerts. Through her work, she enriched the Burgas stage and gave it style. Burgas loses a positive, refined, yet very energetic person who remained dedicated to her cause of developing the cultural life of the city until the very end. I extend my deepest condolences to her family and loved ones," commented Mayor Dimitar Nikolov.
