People in Pomorie can give blood on Thursday, 12 November, from 9am to 1pm on the second floor of the "Prosveta 1888" chitalishte (community cultural centre). The transfusion haematology unit at the University Hospital in Burgas and Pomorie municipality are organising the drive.

Healthy people who want to help someone in need can come. Donors must be aged 18 to 65 and must not have taken any medicine in the previous 48 hours.

Donors should be rested, not on an empty stomach, in good health, and bring an ID card. They first fill in a questionnaire. A doctor then examines them and checks their blood group and haemoglobin level. The whole procedure takes about 30 minutes.

After giving blood, doctors advise drinking more fluids and eating high-calorie food. The body replaces the lost blood within a day, and its quality recovers within three to four weeks.

The organisers say giving blood helps renew blood cells and strengthens the body's defences.
