The Supreme Judicial Council has opened bidding for a new three-storey courthouse in Tsarevo that will cost €5.1m before VAT. It will take bids until 24 November.

With 20% VAT, the price will pass €6m. The council is both the client and the source of the money.

The building will house the Tsarevo District Court and the local office of the Burgas District Prosecutor's Office.

The plot measures 400 sq m (property ID 48619.502.605). The land registry puts it between the Tsarevo municipality building and Hristo Botev Street. The courthouse will be up to 15 metres high, with a total built-up floor area of up to 1,900 sq m.

On the first floor, the technical specification calls for three courtrooms: one large room of about 50 sq m and two of about 35 sq m each. The same floor will have the administrative offices and a room for people held in custody. The ground floor will have a registry office and a reception area for the public.

The second and third floors will hold offices, rooms for evidence and the archive. The Tsarevo prosecutor's office will get three offices for prosecutors, two clerks' offices and an archive.

The contract covers the concept and working designs and the construction. The firm will have five months for the design and two years to build.
