Greenhouse vegetables are rising in price, while lamb meat registers a price increase before Easter, while some fruits and fish are getting cheaper. This is shown by the data from the weekly analysis of the System for Agricultural Market Information (SAMI) for the thirteenth week of 2026 (as of March 25th).

Products with the biggest price increase:

  • Goby (fresh fish): +14% (up to 5.11 euros/kg)
  • Bluefish (fresh fish): +9% (up to 18.75 euros/kg)
  • Greenhouse tomatoes: +8% (up to 3.55 euros/kg)
  • Lamb meat: +7% (up to 15.92 euros/kg)
  • Red peppers: +7% (up to 4.59 euros/kg)

The price increase for lamb is observed throughout the country, with the Black Sea region and the southern regions reacting faster. Pazardzhik and Plovdiv already exceed 20 euros/kg.

For fish, goby and bluefish also show an increase, with Varna being a leading market. This reflects the seasonal start of fishing and demand before the holidays.

Products with the biggest price drop:

  • Pumpkins: -13% (down to 1.16 euros/kg)
  • Zucchini: -8% (down to 3.28 euros/kg)
  • Strawberries: -7% (down to 5.78 euros/kg)
  • Grey mullet: -6% (down to 6.40 euros/kg)
  • Shark: -2% (down to 7.61 euros/kg)

The biggest drop is observed in pumpkins, with the price decrease concentrated in Southwestern Bulgaria. Zucchini also get cheaper, with Dobrich, Plovdiv, Varna, and Sofia reporting a significant decrease. Strawberries get cheaper, with Montana reporting a large decrease, while in Sofia the price remains high.

Sea fish (mullet, shark) is getting cheaper in the Black Sea region, probably due to the starting fish season.

The SAMI analysis confirms three seasonal trends: the increase in price of lamb and greenhouse tomatoes, the decrease in price of seasonal vegetables and fish.
