Following significant improvements to all key dynamic components, the manual 911 GT3 with the Weissach package is 3.633 seconds faster than the previous model (992.1) with a PDK transmission. Andreas Preuninger, Director of the GT line, shares the customers' excitement about the manual gearbox and presents the official lap time on the Nordschleife achieved with it. Although the PDK version is faster, the new GT3 with a manual gearbox improves the time of its predecessor with PDK by about 3.6 seconds.
On a late sunny afternoon, with an air temperature of 12 degrees and a track temperature of 27 degrees, Jörg Bergmeister, Porsche brand ambassador, completed the 20.832-kilometer track with the 510 hp 911 GT3 with the Weissach package. The car was equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tires (255/35 R20 at the front and 315/30 R21 at the rear).
The goal: fastest lap time with a manual transmission
Preuninger shares that the team analyzed the competition before setting an official time. A competing model completed the shortened 20.6-kilometer version of the track in 7:01.300 minutes, which is equivalent to about 7:05.800 minutes for the full lap. The new 911 GT3 improves this time by more than 9.5 seconds, achieving 6:56.294 minutes under notarial supervision.
Improved dynamics with the same power
Bergmeister describes the handling of the sports car as inspiring even greater confidence in limit situations. He says the car is more stable over bumps and curbs, and the shorter gear ratio provides better rear axle grip under acceleration. Although the PDK version is faster, the manual gearbox gave Bergmeister more driving pleasure during the fast lap.
